Three years of professional governmental or commercial accounting experience. Knowledge of State Accounting and/or Uniform Statewide Accounting System ( USAS ) experience preferred. Master’s degree in Business or Accounting or Certified Public Accountant certification could be considered in place of experience. Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties: Performs all Level I duties/responsibilities and applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information, prepare adjusting entries, reconciliation’s, and financial reports. Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only): Monitors state appropriations. Performs various state accounting tasks including, but not limited to, data processing, requesting reimbursements, draws and returns of state appropriations, and reconciling and correcting discrepancies between the University’s accounting system and USAS . Assists with year-end closing procedures and preparation of state financial reports. Prepares and oversees the preparation of training and operational manuals. Confers with staff on program issues and problems and implements solutions. Recommends program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations. Interprets policies, rules, and regulations and ensures they are followed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
