Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk for our client in Holden, Louisiana. In this role, you will support essential accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, data entry, and general ledger tasks. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment and gain valuable experience under the guidance of an experienced Accounting Manager. This is a short-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices and maintain accurate accounts payable documentation, including matching purchase orders with invoices.
• Handle accounts receivable tasks, such as generating daily invoices, applying cash receipts, and assisting with collections of overdue balances.
• Provide support for general accounting processes, including reconciling general ledger accounts and assisting with month-end closings.
• Review and correct transaction documents, ensuring accuracy and initiating necessary revisions or updates.
• Classify and code financial documents accurately, applying appropriate expenditure and accounting codes.
• Prepare detailed financial statements and reports by consolidating data from various sources.
• Post financial transactions to journals, ledgers, and registers using both manual and electronic systems.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records by reconstructing actions and preparing adjustment documents as needed.
• Assist in monitoring budgets and verifying adjustments or transfers to ensure budgetary compliance.
• Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
• Proficiency in data entry with exceptional accuracy.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
• Experience in account reconciliation, billing, and invoice processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills to address discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Entry-level candidates with a strong foundation in accounting principles will be considered.
