Description Job Title: Residential Lease Property Bookkeeper Location: Onsite – Redwood City, CA Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8-hour day shift Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Residential Lease Property Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations for our residential rental properties. This position is responsible for Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll support, and lease-specific financial management. The ideal candidate has a strong background in bookkeeping and experience working with QuickBooks and property management accounting. General Bookkeeping & Lease Property Accounting + Maintain accurate financial records for multiple residential properties. + Track rent payments, security deposits, and property-related income/expenses. + Assist with budgeting and forecasting for property portfolios. + Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including Profit & Loss statements and cash flow reports. + Support tax preparation by organizing property-specific financial documentation. + Reconcile bank accounts, security deposit ledgers, and tenant ledgers. Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Payroll Support + Enter and manage data for AP, AR, and payroll processes. + Verify and reconcile invoices; allocate expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers. + Monitor payment schedules, process checks, and resolve discrepancies in purchase orders, invoices, and contracts. + Ensure accurate payroll processing by reviewing approved timesheets and calculating hours worked. + Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive financial information. Accounts Payable Specific Tasks + Process vendor invoices, verify entries, and ensure timely payments. + Track discount opportunities, verify tax ID numbers, and manage credit memos and stop-payment requests. + Maintain accurate ledgers and reconcile monthly vendor statements. + Manage petty cash disbursements and related documentation. Accounts Receivable Specific Tasks + Record customer payments via cash, check, or credit card. + Post revenue and update accounts by verifying lockbox and deposit transactions. + Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and deduction issues. + Coordinate with collections, sales, and customer service to manage outstanding balances. + Prepare monthly AR reports and maintain accurate invoice records. Payroll Support + Collect and review approved timesheets. + Verify hours worked using time-tracking logs and ensure accurate payroll entries. Tools & Software + QuickBooks (Required) + ADP (Preferred) + Familiarity with property management software + Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for tracking and reporting Requirements Education & Experience + Minimum of 1 year of professional bookkeeping experience, specifically in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll support + Experience with residential lease property accounting or real estate/property management bookkeeping strongly preferred + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required with equivalent experience + Demonstrated experience with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) – Required + Experience with ADP payroll systems – Preferred + Familiarity with property management software (e.g., Buildium, AppFolio, TenantCloud) – a plus Technical Skills + Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets + Comfortable working with accounting reports such as Profit & Loss, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements + Ability to reconcile bank and tenant ledgers and manage multi-property financials Organizational & Interpersonal Skills + High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting + Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment + Proven ability to handle confidential information with integrity + Strong communication skills for collaborating with vendors, tenants, and internal staff Other Requirements + Ability to work onsite in Redwood City, CA, Monday to Friday (8-hour day shift) Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
