Accounting Supervisor - Renewable Fuels Accounting

SUMMARY

The Renewable Fuels Accounting team is responsible for the accounting of renewable fuel purchases, sales, inventory reconcilements, as well as RIN and carbon intensity reconcilements. This individual is required to ensure that personnel, procedures, controls, and systems are in place and operate in a timely and effective manner for this portion of MPC’s business.  This position works closely with various organizations across the company, including Trading, Scheduling, BP&A, and Risk organizations. 

Key Responsibilities

Oversight of the monthly RightAngle accounting closeout process, perform month-end checks, review accountant inventory reconcilements, review journal entries, and perform flux analysis and Blackline reconcilements as needed.

Provide support and guidance to accountants within the department and assist with the daily troubleshooting of issues.

Ensure that personnel, processes, procedures, and systems are in place to effectively and accurately account for renewable fuel activity.

Provide leadership, mentorship, coaching, and expertise to the workgroup, gaining expertise in the business processes and system applications.

Play a lead role in implementing changes to the business impacting assigned areas of responsibility.

Work with traders and schedulers to resolve issues related to renewable fuels and the associated accounting activities.

Ensure internal controls are established and executed as designed.   Monitors controls to verify effectiveness and compliance with SOX requirements.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

6+ years accounting or relevant experience required.

RightAngle experience is preferred.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
