Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to support the financial operations of a leading nonprofit organization in New York, New York. This is a long-term contract position offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in the nonprofit sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of accounts payable processes and advanced Excel skills. Responsibilities: • Process and verify invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational policies. • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve any discrepancies promptly. • Maintain accurate and organized records of payments, invoices, and purchase orders. • Collaborate with vendors to address billing inquiries and resolve payment issues. • Prepare and execute payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers. • Assist with month-end closing tasks related to accounts payable. • Generate and analyze reports to monitor accounts payable performance. • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and nonprofit-specific guidelines. • Support the finance team with additional tasks as needed. Requirements • Proven experience in accounts payable or a related financial role. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP. • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Familiarity with accounting principles and financial recordkeeping. • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. • Previous experience in a nonprofit organization is a plus. • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
