Summary:
The position is responsible for assisting the Director of Activity & Volunteer Services with providing a comprehensive program of activities designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, spiritual, and psychosocial needs of residents and patients in accordance with their comprehensive assessment. The Activity Coordinator will work with the Director, staff, and volunteers to continually develop and revise programs, policies, and procedures to ensure services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations and meet professional standards of practice.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the development, review, and revision of each resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care as part of the multidisciplinary team for your assigned unit.Under the direction of the Activity Director, write progress notes as needed, but at least quarterly, for those residents with problems identified on the Plan of Care.Plan, coordinate, and encourage individual and group activities covering 24 hours per day, 7 days per week based on the comprehensive assessment of each resident on your assigned unit to meet their individual needs, interests, and time frames.Participate in activities and programs. Develop creative means of encouraging visitation and participation by family and friends of residents.Coordinate and lead activity programs tailored to the physical, cognitive, and social abilities of each resident. 6. Help maintain and distribute a monthly activity calendar, activity bulletin boards, and other tools to communicate and promote activity offerings.Communicate and promote involvement in activity programs to volunteers, direct care givers and other disciplines.Coordinate the decorating of your assigned unit for holidays and special events utilizing creative use of supplies and human resources.Recommend activities, equipment and supplies to the Activity Director.Assist in carrying out activities that promote and market the facility in the community.Undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Activity & Volunteer Services.Perform all duties in a caring, ethical, and professional manner keeping in mind at all times that the goal is to provide the opportunities and means for individual residents to participate in activities that increase the quality of their life according to what is important to that individual.
