Job Summary
Summary: Acupuncturist provides acupuncture therapy services to adult and/or pediatric patients within scope of practice. Primary areas of focus for acupuncturist includes alleviation of pain, stress and anxiety associated with illness and treatment as well as other side effects and symptoms. The acupuncturist treats in both inpatient and ambulatory settings as directed by their supervisor.Providing acupuncture treatments in accordance with the laws, regulations and guidelines of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the practice of acupuncture (243 CMR 4.00 and 5.00. the Practice of Acupuncture) and the Mass General Brigham (MGB) Policy and Procedures Manuals.

Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Acupuncturist Completed training in an accredited acupuncture school. Masters degree in Acupuncture or Acupuncture and Oriental medicine or equivalent from an accredited Institution preferred. NCCAOM Certification required.
HR Only required Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]
Experience
Experience practicing acupuncture 3 years required and experience providing acupuncture in a healthcare setting such as a hospital, community health center, pain clinic or other integrative health care setting 2-3 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of acupuncture theory, anatomy and physiology.
- Demonstrated ability to make appropriate judgments of the patient to provide safe acupuncture.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patients served on assigned units.
-Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to communicate clinical information to a range of clinical colleaguse.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse population.
- Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.
- High level of service delivery Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations.
- Must carry professional liability insurance.
