As Anesthesia Technician, you are responsible for supporting the Anesthesiologist and other caregivers at Fairview Hospital. Some of your daily tasks may include maintaining equipment, assisting with bloom sample delivery, performing POCT procedures and troubleshooting various machinery. This role is essential to the overall operation and organization flow of the Anesthesia Team.
A caregiver in this position works days from 11:00AM - 7:30PM, with on-call requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Stock the carts and surgical suites with the required supplies as outlined on the anesthesia surgical suite stock par list. Assist with difficult airway management by assisting with equipment needs from the providers. Assist in the delivery of blood samples to the lab and retrieval of blood products. Disassemble, decontaminate and sterilize anesthesia equipment and supplies.Report equipment problems to the management team, stock items in the workroom and keep the workroom clean and in an orderly condition. Perform Point of Care (POCT) testing procedures after an initial approved competency has been completed. Effectively communicate with anesthesia and operating room staff to assure daily operating room assignments are prioritized at the start of each shift. Efficiently transport all anesthesia related equipment and supplies to and from outside of Operating Rooms off-site locations. Maintain complete and accurate records and check the status of orders and equipment. Maintain anesthesia supplies by establishing inventory levels, requisitioning supplies and restocking supplies. Maintain equipment by preparing, testing and setting up a variety of anesthetic equipment for surgical use, troubleshooting equipment for problems or repairs and performing preventative maintenance and routine cleaning. Participate in turning over rooms assuring minimal downtime between cases. Retrieve and appropriately distribute the equipment necessary to prepare a patient for anesthesia.Retrieve, carry and appropriately distribute necessary medications to the Anesthesiologist, CRNA or AA for the preparation or care of a patient for anesthesia.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma/GED and one year experience working in a healthcare setting/successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or similar healthcare-related training program OR Bachelor’s DegreeBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:
Extended periods walking, standing, lifting and carrying equipment (usually not over 20 lbs.).Capable of pushing and maneuvering equipment weighing up to 150 pounds. May be exposed to bodily fluids.Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
