Job Description
As an Animal Care Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being and care of research animals. You will be responsible for placing processed bedding, feed, and other related items into assembled, sanitized cages while maintaining detailed records of maintenance schedules, detergent and disinfectant use, and performance tests for cage washers and autoclaves.
ResponsibilitiesPerform daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties to maintain the quality and health of research animals.Conduct daily water bottle/automatic water line and cage checks.Provide appropriate food and water to research animals.Perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required per standard operating procedures and specified protocols.Essential SkillsAnimal care and monitoringAnimal husbandry and handlingCleaning and cage washingVivarium operationsAnimal health and researchAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.Six months experience in research animal care and husbandry preferred.Work Environment
This position is based in an Animal Research Lab specializing in Oncology. The role requires physical activity, including standing, walking, and moving around the campus on a continuous basis. Candidates must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs and have the ability to ascend and descend stairs regularly. Working here offers valuable experience with high-volume animal care.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
