Job Title Assistant Chief, State Operations Center Agency Texas A&M Forest Service Department ESF4 - SOC Proposed Minimum Salary $6,737.50 monthly Job Location Austin, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Serve as a member of the Planning & Preparedness Department Leadership Team, representing the Agency within the State Operations Center (SOC) under the Emergency Support Function 4 (ESF4).  Primary responsibilities include staffing and representing the Agency in a professional manner at the SOC, supporting ESF4 activities, including initiating/actioning/closing out State of Texas Assistant Requests and participating in the Emergency Management Council and Homeland Security Council. This position must be capable of delivering clear and concise briefings on the Agency’s structure, authorities, capabilities and current operational situation to internal and external stakeholders.  Additional duties include preparing FEMA Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) documentation and responding to information requests from federal, state and local entities regarding the FMAG process.  The role may also lead or assist with special projects, budgeting, plan development and participating in meetings, committees and other related functions. ****This position follows a 24-hour on duty / 72-hour off duty shift schedule.  The employee is responsible for providing their own personal transportation to and from assigned shifts at the SOC in Austin, TX.  This position is NOT eligible for overtime. **** Responsibilities: -Serve as a Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS) representative for all levels of SOC activation, keeping ESF4 and agency leadership apprised of any federal, state and local activities and policies that may impact the agency.  Actively monitor state fire activity, recommend and prepare Fire Management Assistant Grant Declaration Forms as necessary.  Assist in the professional development of TAMFS personnel concerning emergency management and relationship building with the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) and other emergency management agencies.  Provide input on State-Level Emergency plans and internal planning documents to ensure compliance with all agency policies, procedures and reporting requirements.  Assist with the delivery of reporting and agency policies, procedures and reporting requirements.  Assist with the delivery of reporting and coordinating agency and program availability of resources and rostering of personnel and teams. -Assist with or manage special projects, budgeting and plan development.  Attend meetings, committees or other functions and provide support for other TAMFS programs as needed. -Comply with all applicable state and agency policies and procedures.  Complete all vehicle log, credit card and travel reports in a timely manner. -Complies with all loss prevention and environmental health and safety standards as established by agency policy. -Other duties as assigned. Education: Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Fire Sciences, Public Administration or related field of study.  Equivalent combination of education or experience in lieu of degree. Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Emergency Management, Fire Administration or related field experience. Required Experience: A minimum of se v en ( 7) years' experience with a recognized fire department, wildland fire agency or emergency management organization in a position that includes emergency response.  Demonstrated knowledge of wildland firefighting and the Texas Fire Service including the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS).  Experience operating under the National Incident Management System (NIMS).  Experience as an instructor and experience on an Incident Management Team (IMT). Preferred Experience: Experience on wildfire and all-hazard incidents. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Required Knowledge: Wildland fire and incident management team operations within and outside of Texas.  Knowledge of the Texas Fire Service and state agencies. Required Skills: Strong communication, organization and time management skills. Required Abilities: Ability to work independently and in a team setting.  Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.  Multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Licenses, Certifications & Registrations: Required: Valid Texas Driver’s license or ability to acquire one within 30 days of hire.
