Assistant Cook

OVERVIEW: 

The Assistant Cook supports food prep, dishwashing, and kitchen cleanliness as directed by the Kitchen Supervisor. In their absence, follows instructions from the Corps Officers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists with food preparation and production Sets up and cleans the dining area; mops floors after meal Keeps kitchen, dish room, pantry, and storage areas clean and organized Follows proper food handling and hygiene practices Washes dishes, pots, pans, and utensils; drains and cleans dishwasher daily Cleans sinks, carts, shelves, and equipment regularly Returns cleaned items to proper storage Cleans beverage dispensers and refrigerators as needed Maintains clean work surfaces and floors throughout the day May communicate with vendors as needed Must have a valid ServSafe Food Handler Certificate Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent (required) California Food Handler's Card or ServSafe® Certificate (required)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bilingual in Spanish (preferred) Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods Team Player Great communication skills

EQUIPMENT USED: 

Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software Relevant kitchen equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Labor intensive jobs should have more here
