The Assistant Program Manager position will be a 2-year term appointment with potential for extension. The incumbent will report to and work closely with the Graham Sustainability Institute's Education Program Manager to advance the strategic education priorities of the Graham Sustainability Institute and the Office of the Vice Provost for Sustainability and Climate Action. 

Assistant Program Manager responsibilities include developing, coordinating, and implementing a pilot internship program involving undergraduate students from all UM campuses (Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint) with a focus on climate action in Michigan. This role also supports the Education Program Manager in delivering the institute's ongoing co-curricular education programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Engaging with students, staff, external partners, and alumni is a central part of the role. Some program events are held in-person on and off campus in the evenings and occasionally on weekends. Responsibilities include:

75% Climate action internship program Under the guidance of the Education Program Manager, build the program including development of: rules and policies, competencies, training, schedule, application process, budget planningCoordinate with Program in the Environment staff, UM Flint campus staff , and UM Dearborn campus staff, and internship hosts (external to UM)Mentor interns25% Graham Sustainability Institute's ongoing co-curricular education programs (Graham Sustainability Scholars and Dow Sustainability Fellows)Support program development and coordination Support program evaluationSupport student recruitment and application processingMentor student teamsCo-lead seminarsSupervise internsAlumni engagementRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in sustainability, education, or related field1+ years of experience in program coordination and program evaluationStrong communication skills (interpersonal, writing, and presentation)Strong organizational skillsCollaborativeExperience with Google Drive and Google Suite of ApplicationsDesired QualificationsMaster's degree in a field related to sustainability or education2+ years of experience in program coordination and program evaluation1+ years of experience in student mentorship1+ years of experience in curriculum development Experience fostering collaborative partnershipsFamiliarity with U-M schools and colleges, U-M sustainability opportunities and initiatives, and U-M policies and procedures
