Associate Engineer - Controls Development – Electrification + Energy Solutions
To direct and participate in the concept and design of controls systems for Electrification + Energy Solutions and in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, serviceability at the most affordable cost. Controls engineer with experience developing and testing control logics that interfaces closely with Invertors, Converters and Chargers. The role will be responsible for controls development for Electrification + Energy Solutions working with a global team. A strong understanding of power electronics and power systems controls is required.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Determining detailed functional requirements for power conversion systems (inverters, converters and chargers), reviewing the technical documentation to determine compliance with requirements and evaluate technical characteristics.
• Develop and test control system algorithms for inverter, converter and chargers. Provide inputs to the software team on controls integration into Electrification products
• Develop and architect control logic, simulate plant models with controller.
• Develop tests, standardized test procedures, and perform product testing, including involvement in hands on Hardware-In-Loop lab testing during evaluations of prototype systems.
• Analyse operational and test data to troubleshoot and resolve system problems.
• Work with field engineers for rapid solutions to field issues
• Collect and provide the required documentation for internal stakeholders to allow for standardized deployment for power conversion controls of inverters, converters and chargers.
• Knowledge of the NPI process.
Basic Qualifications:
• Master’s candidates in Electrical Engineering with experience in Controls systems design, development and validation of electrification products utilizing technology like fuel cell power sources, energy storage systems, hydrogen fuel cells, hybrids, electric vehicles (EV), etc and functional validation testing
• Knowledge of Invertors/Chargers or similar Electrical Component product Controls - design, development, Validation and testing.
• Experience in electrical product and software testing.
• Working /Operating knowledge of HiL-OPAL or dSPACE benches
• High level of proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink
• Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
• Advanced knowledge of Controls development of Inverters, Chargers controls with a focus on strategies development for various product operations scenarios
• Advanced knowledge of Matlab / Simulink with a focus on automation of simulation and code-generation for embedded platforms
• Working knowledge of Power Electronics design and simulation, focussing on different converter topologies, thermal simulations, etc
• Advanced knowledge of the model-based software development, MIL/SIL/HIL based validation, and embedded software development
• Knowledge and usage of Hardware-In-Loop Systems for controller software design, development, verification, and validation.
• Willingness to travel domestic/international up to 10% when job role requires
