Description We are looking for a skilled Trusts & Estates Attorney to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work directly with clients on complex estate planning matters, wealth transfers, and legal documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning and be passionate about providing tailored solutions to meet clients’ needs. Responsibilities: • Develop comprehensive estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, property agreements, and powers of attorney for financial and healthcare matters. • Advise clients on effective strategies for intergenerational wealth transfers, including business legal structures, buy/sell agreements, and succession planning. • Provide guidance to trustees, executors, and beneficiaries on interpreting legal documents, addressing tax concerns, and resolving disputes. • Assist clients with probate administration and post-death management of living trusts. • Prepare gift and estate tax returns and counsel clients on tax-related matters. • Offer legal expertise to clients on charitable trusts, private foundations, family limited partnerships, and other specialized entities. • Collaborate with clients to address management succession issues and ensure smooth transitions for business owners. • Stay updated on regulations and best practices in estate planning and trust administration. • Maintain a billable hour target of 1300 hours annually while delivering high-quality legal services. Requirements • Must hold a valid license to practice law in the District of Columbia. • A minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning and trust administration, with a focus on attention to detail. • Proven expertise in drafting and implementing wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents. • Strong understanding of tax laws related to gift and estate tax returns. • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to advise and communicate effectively with clients. • Familiarity with charitable trusts, family limited partnerships, and business succession planning. • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle complex legal issues and documentation. • Commitment to meeting billable hour targets and delivering exceptional results.
