One of our major oil and gas clients is seeking a Business Analyst IV to work on a 12-month assignment in their facilities in Houston, TX.
Summary:
A leading oil and gas company is seeking a Business Analyst IV for a 12-month assignment in Houston, TX. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between IT and pipeline operations departments, such as asset integrity, gas control, and operational compliance, translating business needs into actionable technical requirements. Responsibilities include facilitating communication across teams, managing project scope and documentation, supporting system testing, and driving continuous process improvements.
Responsibilities: Serve as a direct liaison to functional process owners in pipeline operations departments such as asset integrity, operational compliance, gas control, and asset management. Ensure effective communication between the IT department and business units. Help both sides understand each other's perspectives and requirements, facilitating smoother collaboration and project execution. Translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications and manage requests for changes to the specifications. Assist the business in determining which requirements can and should be automated and how they integrate with other business and technical processes. Maintain functional peer relationships and detailed working knowledge of the assigned area's systems, organization, and business processes. Participate in requirements prioritization and assist in defining project scope and success criteria. Perform project management tasks as needed, including determining, assigning, tracking, and managing project tasks, documentation, issues, change requests, and status. Successful candidate will be able to produce project documentation and presentations both expeditiously and of high quality. Partner with the development team to provide reporting and status on project deliverables. Ensure that the proposed solutions are feasible and align with the organization's strategic goals. The BA also validates the solutions to ensure they deliver the expected value Coordinate and participate in testing activities. Help stakeholders understand the impact of changes and ensure that the changes are implemented smoothly and effectively. Continuously seek ways to improve business processes and systems. Analyze performance data, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements: Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience. 10+ years of systems analysis, programming, or other IT-related experience. Complete understanding of the software development lifecycle. Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral communication abilities. Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to translate technical information into terms understandable by non-IT personnel. Adept at interacting in both business and IT-focused discussions. Ability to influence and negotiate with clients and suppliers. Proficient at operating within a North Americanly distributed team. Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products. Familiarity with pipeline operations departments such as asset integrity, operational compliance, gas control, and asset management. Knowledge of technologies such as database, GIS, Power BI, and automation are a plus. Business Analysis or Project Management certifications are a plus.
