We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join our team and support ongoing construction activities at the Smithsonian Institute, including high-profile projects such as the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall. The role involves conducting site surveys of local buildings, collecting and confirming room locations and spatial data, and ensuring compliance with SI CAD Standards. The CAD Technician will review, verify, and edit drawings and spatial data based on feedback from Smithsonian staff, develop new drawings for incomplete facilities, and provide printed reports as needed.
ResponsibilitiesConduct site surveys of local buildings to collect or confirm room locations and spatial data.Ensure technical verification of CAD deliverables for compliance with SI CAD Standards.Review drawings and data to ensure accurate capture and compliance.Edit spatial data and create/edit drawings based on comments from Smithsonian staff.Develop new drawings for incomplete facilities.Provide printed reports as requested by Smithsonian staff.Log all tasks in the provided system.Provide onsite space planning and update floor planning for the Smithsonian Institute.Convert designs into AutoCAD floor plans for the Smithsonian.Essential SkillsAssociate's degree in Drafting, Designing, CAD, or similar training.Previous federal agency experience in drafting, space planning, floor layout, and drawings.Eligible for a security clearance.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with AutoCAD.Strong attention to detail.Ability to work collaboratively with Smithsonian staff.Work EnvironmentThis position is onsite with no remote or hybrid work options offered. The CAD Technician will report to the Project Manager and work in a dynamic environment supporting high-profile projects, including those at the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $39.00/hr.
