This advanced position in the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) exists to ensure public health and safety are maintained, and state laws, rules and regulations are met by cannabis businesses across Minnesota. This individual inspects and conducts enforcement activities in partnership with other OCM staff to ensure cannabis businesses are in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. This position will review, and investigate complaints received regarding cannabis operations/businesses. The position will provide outreach and training to businesses and government groups on how to correct frequent issues and recognize misbranded or adulterated products.
The work shift for this position is typically a Monday through Friday day shift with occasional evening and weekend work required.
This position is a remote worker position which is defined as, an employee who, as a condition of their appointment, has their home or alternative location as the assigned work location, works permanently from that location, and does not have an agency permanent/principal work location. Currently the OCM does not allow remote work locations outside of the State of Minnesota. Counties served by the Southwest Region Cannabis Inspector are likely to include, but may not be limited to: Blue Earth, Brown, Cottonwood, Faribault, Jackson, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Martin, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Rock, Watonwan, and Yellow Medicine.
**Minimum Qualifications**

+ Three (3) years of experience performing inspections or investigations **AND** enforcement activities for a county, state, or federal regulatory program. Enforcement activities typically require legal jurisdiction or authority such as assessing fees or fines, removing products from shelves, writing citations, making arrests, or shutting down service providers or businesses.
+ The ability to celebrate diversity and a strong commitment to a respectful and inclusive work environment
+ Excellent communication skills sufficient to effectively deliver complex information to a variety of audiences
+ A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various locations throughout the state
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Knowledge of MN cannabis laws and regulations
+ Experience in the cannabis or hemp industry
+ Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, criminal justice, regulatory sciences, public health, or closely related field
+ Experience providing education to adult learners and using plain language
+ Experience working in or collaborating with law enforcement
+ Experience in one of the following areas: Cannabis cultivation or manufacturing such as extraction, food safety principles in food or beverage manufacturing, experience with agricultural or horticultural processes, or financial auditing.
