Job Description Summary: his position is responsible for management of carrier operations across the United States. This includes dedicated, seasonal and on-demand carriers used in support of Bulk & On-Site for Airgas Merchant Gases as well as Large Industries and Oil & Gas business. This position is also responsible for the continuing improvement and enablement of the overall Carrier Strategy. Lastly, collaboration and leadership across the distribution and logistics team and regional sales organization is required in order to deliver the lowest cost option at the safest and highest level of customer service achievable. Serve as the on-site point of contact for construction and commissioning management.

Development of programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the Carrier Operations team.

Work in conjunction with leadership to develop and implement both short and long-term strategies for the management of Carrier Operations. 

Benchmark in collaboration with  industry and academic logistics leaders and be a change agent to transform the logistics operation through technology, innovation, and best practices.

Responsible for documentation, formal changes in resources requirements at each carrier terminal and communicates these needs via established procedures.

Responsible for the securing of 3rd party carriers to meet Airgas’ operational requirements.

Collaborate with procurement to track carrier contract expiration dates, renewals, price adjustments, etc.  Partners with Finance and accounting departments to provide carrier financials.

Collaborate with multiple departments to measure carrier Key Performance Indicators. Manages performance against objectives on a regular basis.

Prepare comprehensive presentations for quarterly business reviews (QBRs) that include analysis of carrier safety records, performance metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, cost efficiency, compliance), and trends.

Lead the presentation of this data to stakeholders, including management, internal teams, and carrier representatives, and facilitate discussions to drive action plans and continuous improvement initiatives.

Research e-commerce tools capable of reducing the use of paperwork for the Carrier team. Development and implementation of systems and processes to reduce data errors. 

Ensure accountability for and ownership of regulatory carrier compliance, e.g., FDA, DOT, and other Government compliance requirements.

Proactively manage quality incidents by conducting root cause analysis, developing formal written reports, and implementing corrective actions to improve carrier performance and compliance.

Manages and directs the carrier analysts and administrators to ensure carrier trip processing and invoice processing is accomplished in a timely manner in order to ensure accurate and timely customer invoicing as well as vendor payments.

Responsible for tracking the number and reason codes for on-demand (spot) carriers via an interactive process working closely with all Logistics Managers. 

Assists Product Supply and Product Management with Supply Chain network design and improvement (strategic level).

Collaborates on the planning and execution of disaster recovery plans

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain Logistics, Engineering, Business administration or a related field required

8 years’ work experience in the logistics and/or 3rd party carrier functions

Strong knowledge of SAP

Previous invoicing experience required

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with cryogenic carriers a plus

Experience with procurement preferred
