At the **Wilkinson County Correctional Facility in Woodville, MS** **,** our foundation is based upon the philosophies of caring about others, giving back, and making a social impact. **Position Summary:**
Reports to the major. Responsible for overall management of emergency and high-risk incidents occurring at the facility and routine incidents when additional resources may be required. Develops and implements a command organization to facilitate the completion of tactical priorities, including the safety, accountability, and welfare of the public, staff and offenders in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives.
**Essential Functions:**
1. Serves as the Incident Commander in charge of the incident command system. Manages the scene and keeps the chief of operations and warden informed and up to date on all important matters pertaining to the incident. Secures and preserves the scene once the incident is resolved. Conducts critical incident debriefing with CERT team to identify operational concerns and to ensure complete and accurate written and photographic documentation of the incident.
2. Recruit, select, train, equip, and assign CERT officers to respond and resolve critical safety and security incidents requiring specialized capabilities. Provide on-going specialized tactical training and leadership of the CERT team.
3. Evaluate staff development and performance and recommend department and personnel changes to the chief of security.
4. Develops and implements standard operating procedures for the incident command system and CERT team members.
5. Direct and supervise targeted and random searches of employees, offenders, and visitors and all areas/property within the facility grounds.
6. Supervise and manage the behavior of offenders throughout assigned tour of duty. Review offender records as needed to prioritize staff and offender safety.
7. Supervise the preparation, submission, and retention of all incident statements and reports mandated by the facility, MTC, and MDOC.
8. Establish and maintain physical standards to prepare and protect the health and safety of CERT members when responding to facility emergencies. Must be available on a 24/7 basis as needed.
9. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
10. Maintain accountability of staff, offenders and property; and adhere to all safety standards.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
**Education and Experience Requirements:**
High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of three (3) years of corrections or law enforcement experience required with one (1) year in a supervisory capacity required. Specialized training or experience directly related to tactical response is preferred. Valid driver’s license in the state of Mississippi or Louisiana with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
**Post Hire Requirements:**
Must successfully complete annual in-service and specialized training requirements.
