GFL is looking for a Full-Time Chemical Technician for the afternoon shift to help support our operations in Hamilton, ON. As a Chemical Technician, your primary role is to sort and repack chemical hazardous waste within the facility. This position report to the Operations Supervisor and is represented by the Teamsters Local Union No. 879.

Key Responsibilities

Classify, test (i.e. oxidation or pH) and determine chemical groups collected through our household hazardous and industrial waste collection programsBulk inorganic and organic materials for shipmentSort and bulk pesticides for shipmentConduct inventory counts, label and prepare containers for shipmentWork safely at all times by adhering to company policies, rules and procedures regarding health and safetyPerform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies

Successful completion of a University or College program with a focus on Chemistry or equivalent industry experiencePrevious experience working in an industrial setting is preferredValid G class Driver’s license is an assetPrevious forklift experience is also considered an asset but is not required
