We're looking for someone who, by utilizing their experience, will become proficient in all laboratory functions at the Houston site, developing new analysis methods and leveraging strong analytical chemistry skills. Additionally, this person will collaborate on writing customer reports, answer technical questions, make plant operation recommendations, review technical sales reports, provide customer service support, and deliver global technical training, ultimately becoming the hydrometallurgy chemistry expert within the tech service group.
As a Chemist I, you create chemistry by... Utilizing your basic experience/knowledge with SHE, Quality and Safety procedures, you will become proficient at all laboratory functions within the Houston site. Developing new analysis methods as required, your strong analytical chemistry skills (GC, MS, FTIR, NMR, HPLC, AA, ICP, viscometry, tensiometry, and various wet chemistry techniques) will be a valued asset.Being team-oriented with experience writing reports, you will collaborate in the writing of customer reports, reviewing results of laboratory work, and reporting results to internal or external customers. Answering technical and chemistry-related questions on a daily basis from external and internal customers, your effective verbal and written communication skills will serve you well.Relying on your prior experience in a research-oriented environment leading to product development, you will make recommendations for plant operations based on laboratory results and knowledge of individual plant operations. Working as a subject matter expert, you will review reports from the technical sales team to ensure that technical content is accurate.Providing service support to the existing customer base as required or assigned, your strong customer focus will be evident. Leveraging your education in Chemistry (preferably with an organic or organometallic specialty) and your knowledge of chelation chemistry and/or organometallic catalysis, you will become the hydrometallurgy chemistry expert within the tech service group.Demonstrating your excellent presentation skills, you will provide global on-site training to the technical group and technical sales group, as well as providing technical training and advice for customers globally.If you... Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, preferably with a specialization in organic or organometallic chemistry.Possess a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in a research-oriented environment.Demonstrate strong analytical chemistry skills, including proficiency in GC, MS, FTIR, NMR, HPLC, AA, ICP, viscometry, tensiometry, and various wet chemistry techniques.Are capable of working in a multi-tasking environment, being team-oriented, and handling difficult situations while solving problems efficiently and effectively.Are willing to engage in national and international travel for at least 15% of the time.Create your own chemistry with you@BASF
