Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Land Development Engineer to join our Civil Design team, providing sitework design engineering services in support of electrical transmission line and substation facility projects. The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of experience in sitework design engineering, focusing on grading, drainage, hydrology, and erosion control. Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Hydraflow is required for developing detailed plans for grading and stormwater drainage management. An E.I.T certification is necessary, while a P.E. license is highly preferred.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop comprehensive site grading plans to ensure proper land leveling and preparation for construction projects.Plan and execute projects on brownfield sites, addressing the unique challenges of building on previously developed land.Create efficient water drainage systems to manage stormwater runoff, prevent erosion, and mitigate flooding risks.Utilize Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Hydraflow to produce accurate and detailed design plans and models.Ensure all designs meet state and federal regulations, as well as industry best practices.Collaborate closely with project managers, construction services departments, sitework contractors, and other engineers to integrate civil sitework grading, drainage, and erosion control plans into overall project designs.Oversee and manage project activities efficiently, taking charge of projects immediately.Review and verify the accuracy of all drawings, calculations, and specifications to ensure high-quality deliverables.Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation for project submissions, client presentations, and regulatory approvals.Identify and resolve design and site issues during the planning and execution phases of projects.Communicate effectively with clients to understand project requirements, provide updates, and address concerns.Demonstrate strong civil design experience, including storm and drafting tasks as needed.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.Minimum of 10 years of experience in Civil land development engineering.E.I.T certification is required; P.E. license is highly preferred.Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Hydraflow.Strong ability to perform detailed hydrological and hydraulic analyses.High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of design.In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to site grading, drainage, and subdivision design.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively.Additional Skills & QualificationsDetailed knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing civil grading design and construction.General knowledge of activities associated with surveying, land acquisition, and obtaining easements.General knowledge of civil construction methods, equipment, and techniques.Demonstrated ability to design a civil sitework land development project including site grading, stormwater design, erosion control, and permitting.Ability to read, interpret, and apply design criteria and government regulations to design construction drawings.Work Environment
The work environment offers a hybrid arrangement, requiring in-office presence 4 days a week and remote work for 1 day. The work schedule operates on a 9/9 format from Monday to Thursday.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
