Job SummaryWe are seeking an outstanding uveitis fellowship trained ophthalmologist. We welcome applications from physician-scientists with an independent research program in visual sciences for the instructional tenure track as well as academically oriented clinicians for the clinical track. Successful candidates will be expected to establish an academic uveitis clinical practice, engage in scholarly activity, and be committed to teamwork. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in research and graduate education as well as in departmental efforts in education including resident and fellow training. The University of Michigan Medical School provides an outstanding academic environment for all areas of biomedical sciences and has for many years been a leading center for research in ophthalmology and visual sciences. Vision research at the University of Michigan is supported by a Vision Core grant supporting outstanding facilities and an NEI-funded training grant for graduate students and fellows in eye research.
Required Qualifications*We welcome applicants to apply who are Board-eligible or certified in ophthalmology and have completed a cornea fellowship. Successful candidates will have an MD PhD degree, or equivalent, in areas as described above. Documentation of scholarly ability and achievement (record of publications in peer-reviewed journals; record of acquisition of external funding for research programs, detailed research plan, collaborative research experience) is expected. Preferred candidates will have a demonstrated interest in graduate and post-doctoral education and possess critical teaching skills.
