Position Responsibilities:

Interprets orders and verifies ordersAccurately compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticalsMonitors drug therapy regimensSuggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic medication alternatives to medical staffSupports the hospital formulary, rational drug therapy selectionProvides accurate and timely medication informationAssists with clinical servicesParticipates in basic antimicrobial management programAccurately and completely documents all clinical activities and interventionsSupports and participates in the goals of the organization's quality improvement, risk management and patient safety programs to include but not limited to National Patient Safety Goals, Core Measures and HCAHPS medication related initiativesCompletes notification reports regarding medication errors and adverse drug reactionsParticipates in the training of new pharmacists, pharmacy students and techniciansMaintains professional competency sufficient to meet current and future needs of the facilityAware of the patient population served and caters to their health care needsProvides basic technical support for automated dispensing machines and other pharmacy computer systemsEffectively supervises pharmacy operation activities  and  provides support to the whole pharmacy teamCompliant with facility pharmacy schedule to work physically at patient care areas to interact with medical staff, nurses and other members of the healthcare teamEffectively and proactively follows-up with medical staff on any issues regarding drug therapyTrains and participates with Disaster Team drills and real-event response  as assignedTrains and participates with Code Teams as assigned. Obtains and maintains BLS-ACLS or PALS current  certification as appropriatePractices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”Maintains appropriate controlled substance recordsComplies with all regulatory standardsPrioritizes work to comply with facility medication turn-around time policy and procedureEffectively supervises and assists pharmacy technicians and other support staffActs as supervisor in charge as assignedParticipates in the continuous quality review of  order sets and/or computer drug entriesParticipates in the continuous quality improvement of pharmacy operations (operational/clinical)

Qualifications:

Registered Pharmacist  in the State of FloridaB.S. or Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy2 years pharmacy experience preferred
