Under the direction of the Manager of Physician Services, the Coding Supervisor is responsible for providing first-line supervision for the Medical Coding Team. This may include Charge Entry and Certified Professional Coders. Supervisor responsibilities include but are not limited to daily supervision and monitoring of quality and productivity performance.
Responsibilities Provides daily supervision of coding team and provides feedback to the Manager of Physician Services on exceptional and substandard performance.Leads all efforts associated with onboarding new staff in coding and charges Provides ongoing feedback to staff on areas of improvementEnsures that all members of the coding ream are following official polices and standard procedures and conducting discipline for those in violation.Counsels coding staff on actions required to meet minimum performance requirements.Assist with Coding Audits from third party auditorCommunicates documentation and charging concerns to clinical office managers and physicians.Attends Training and Meetings to receive updated billing and coding information.Schedule Coding Team quarterly meetings Qualifications Qualifications:Education:Hold Certification as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based (CCS-P), or Certified Radiology Coder (RCC) Experience:Minimum of 1 years of experience in coding experience using ICD 10, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes in Physician Coding.Skills and Abilities:In depth knowledge of coding process, coding systems software, workflow management, and electronic medical records.Advanced knowledge of the ICD 10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS.Advanced knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines and Clinical Documentation GuidelinesAdvanced knowledge of Optum 360 EncoderKnowledge of the principles and practices of supervision as applied to management and direction of personnelStrong organizational, planning, scheduling, and project management abilitiesExcellent leadership abilityExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent critical thinking skillsExcellent analytical ability to develop and analyze data to recommend solutions and solve complex problemsAbility to adapt to changes in workload and work functions and to effectively prioritize work assignmentsExtensive knowledge of Anatomy and PhysiologyDemonstrated capacity to work independently as well as in a team environmentComfortable presenting formal presentations to both large or small groups or individualsProven organizational and time management skills Strong interpersonal skillsAbility to meet deadlinesAbility to problem solve and make independent decisions Ability to multi-taskAbility to collaborate and promote teamworkExperience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)

WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical presence onsite is essential. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance. Very good interpersonal communication and customer service skills required.
Physical: Medium work – Exerting 20 – 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to more objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Good manual and finger dexterity. Ability to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting. Some light driving required.
Psychological: Contact with Others, Deal with external customers/clients, sometimes dealing with unpleasant people, occasionally coordinating letters/memos, working with work groups or as a Team constantly/consistently.
