In support of Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York (PPCWNY)’s mission, theCollege Advocatewill be responsible for providing crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and follow-up services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking; provide comprehensive services in partnership with police (campus and local), district attorney and other campus based and/or community-based agencies serving students. Office space located on multiple college campuses. The primary worksite for this position will be in Rochester but travel to all 5 counties RESTORE provides service in is required.
Essential Functions
Essential Functions
+ 55% - Provides RESTORE services co-located at various campus settings including crisis intervention response to victims of sexual assault and stalking on campus, criminal justice, and/or campus-based judiciary advocacy as well as personal advocacy.
+ 30% - Promotes an understanding of the issue of sexual assault and assist professionals in developing strategies to prevent sexual assault on campuses following Enough is Enough guidelines.
+ 10% - Participates in events on campus: health fairs, Take Back the Night, Walk a Mile in her Shoes, Clothesline Project, movie screenings, panel discussions, club meetings, committees, etc.
+ 5% - Maintains appropriate documentation for client records and funder reports.
Other Accountability Activities
+ Must sign up for On Call shifts at a minimum of two shifts per month including one week night and one weekend 24-hour shift on a rotating basis with all staff, including holidays, providing coverage to all Counties RESTORE serves including: Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming
+ Stays current on prevention education strategies by attending relevant educational conferences and seminars.
+ Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department
Participates in affiliate initiatives and represent PPCWNY in a professional manner within appropriate forums, coalitions, etc. using those opportunities to increase participation in PPCWNY programs and to further agency goals.
+ Shows respect to all internal and external customers for differences in backgrounds, lifestyles, viewpoints and needs
Requirements
Qualifications
Applicants must possess the following qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Education—
+ Associate degree required, Bachelors degree preferred in Human Services, Social Work, Health Education, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
Experience—
+ Two years of paid work in human services and/or one-year paid crisis counseling, sexual assault, or domestic violence work required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
+ Must have successfully completed sexual assault advocacy program training during the first two months of onboarding
+ Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license not in jeopardy of being revoked; ability to respond to emergency calls within thirty minutes
+ Demonstrated knowledge of sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking dynamics and effects, public awareness and crisis intervention services
+ Professional verbal and written communication skills
+ Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, able to maintain accurate records, set goals and create timelines for implementation
+ Ability to work effectively within and outside of the campus system in developing relationships and programs to address advocacy issues and needs
+ Excellent skills in assessing levels of emotional distress and reacting appropriately

Work Schedule
This is a full-time, 40 hour a week, position; regular schedule will be Monday – Friday with occasional evenings and weekends, as well as on-call responsibilities.
Benefits & Compensation
At PPCWNY, we are committed to equitable compensation practices and transparency. In alignment with these efforts, the pay for this position ranges from $20.71 to $24.05/hour. Actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by law.
