Overview Responsible for the services and repairs of Installation equipment. Provide maintenance and repair of communication systems installed in equipment. and wheel vehicles. Responsible for inventorying and reordering parts for bench stock re-supply, applies understanding, knowledge, and guidance of information systems hardware and software to provide problem resolution, problem diagnosis and solutions in a service center environment; clearly communicate technical solutions in a user-friendly professional manner. They are responsible for recognizing, researching, isolating, and resolving first level information systems problems for appropriate service, repairs, training, and follow-up. Also performs technical inspections for all work processed in the Ascension Island. The Communication Equipment Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of communication infrastructure, including telecommunications cables, equipment, radio systems, cellular devices, tower equipment, and supporting systems. This role ensures mission-critical voice, data, and video communication systems operate reliably and efficiently in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) standards and contract requirements. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Perform full range of system maintenance. Complete work assignment within required man hours standards and requirements. Uses correct technical manuals, bulletins, and written directives in the performance of duty. Troubleshoots equipment, diagnoses problems, and performs corrective actions. Orders required repair parts using appropriate parts manuals and/or automated systems. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems, radio, cellular, and tower equipment. Install, test, and document communications infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic cabling, OSP/ISP, antennas, and equipment racks. Conduct Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI) on communication infrastructure and systems per T.O. 00-33A-1001. Respond to and resolve trouble tickets using government-approved systems (e.g., REMEDY). Provide support for telephone switching systems (analog, digital, VoIP), public address systems, and Land Mobile Radios (LMR). Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for the survey, design, installation, relocation, and removal of communications systems and components. Perform configuration and patch management on communications equipment and ensure STIG compliance. Support emergency communications, including crash nets, base alarms, and emergency radio services. Maintain accurate records in systems such as CIPS/CVC and IMDS for all communication infrastructure. Implement corrosion prevention and static discharge control measures on all applicable equipment. Participate in the Cybersecurity and COMSEC programs as required by DoD and AF directives. Perform cable labeling and documentation to ensure compliance with TIA/EIA and UFC standards. Monitor performance, support system updates, and provide on-call support during emergencies, holidays, and launch operations as needed. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Qualifications Education: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education. High School Diploma or equivalent Certifications: Ability to obtain host nation driver license. Must be CAC eligible and/or ability to obtain a CAC. Secret Clearance BICSI Technician Certification preferred (required for cable installation roles). Experience: Three years’ work experience in communication maintenance Proficiency in working with copper, fiber optics, VoIP systems, public address, and radio communications equipment. Familiarity with REMEDY, CIPS/CVC, IMDS, T.O. 00-33A-1001, and standard test equipment. Other Requirements: Ability to handle confidential company and employee information with complete discretion. Intermediate ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written. Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook applications. High-level organization and planning skills so workflow is managed efficiently and accurately. Skills and Technology Used: A working knowledge of test equipment. Collaborative work style fostering cooperation and teamwork. Ability to work effectively with employees and management of all levels to include multi-national staff, superiors, and ranking military officers. Ability to lift heavy equipment, work at heights (e.g., towers), and perform outdoor installation/maintenance tasks.
