This position is part of the DPS Community Affairs Engagement Team and will assist efforts to engage with diverse communities across Minnesota. The intern will support community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and resource coordination to ensure all Minnesotans have access to public safety resources and information.
Must be able to work occasional weekends, in order to represent DPS at community events and/or provide support to agency leadership during public safety emergencies.
**Hybrid Eligible:** Employees may telework up to 50% or more, depending on the position and the needs of the division. Employees who live 50 miles or more from their permanent work location may be allowed to telework more than 50% with approval from the division director.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ At least one year of post-secondary education
+ Currently enrolled in secondary, post-secondary, or graduate study program
+ Organized, with ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel with ability to enter data in spreadsheets/databases with accuracy
+ Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and ethical performance at all times
+ Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Written and verbal fluency in more than one language
+ Desire to with and relate to a undeserved communities from different backgrounds and cultures
+ Ability to guide and direct work activities to completion
+ Strong communication skills
+ Skills in data collection, stakeholder analysis, and policy research
**Physical Requirements**
Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50-pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods
