Join our team as a Construction Inspector, where you will be responsible for construction contract administration and onsite observation for one or multiple projects. You will provide construction observation for various infrastructure projects to ensure they conform to project contract documents and client standards. This role involves reviewing and documenting contract quantities, maintaining daily or weekly progress reports, and assisting with construction contract administration tasks. You will act as a liaison between the client, contractor, residents, and other project stakeholders, assisting the project manager with conflict resolution throughout construction. You will also obtain as-built data, maintain redline markups, and support office staff with field information.
ResponsibilitiesAdminister construction contracts and perform onsite observations for various projects.Ensure construction conforms to project contract documents and client standards.Review and document contract quantities.Document project progress through daily or weekly reports.Assist with construction contract administration tasks, such as reviewing payment applications, change orders, submittals, and warranties.Act as a liaison between client, contractor, residents, and project stakeholders.Assist project manager with conflict resolution during construction.Obtain as-built data and maintain redline markups throughout construction.Provide field information to support office staff during construction and for various design projects.Assist management staff in additional tasks to meet company objectives.Work overtime as needed.Essential SkillsProficiency in construction inspection, including water treatment and roadway construction.Experience with construction observation and documentation using tools like Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.Knowledge of construction documents, as-built processes, and construction administration.Experience in civil construction, municipal wastewater, water main, roadway, stormwater, and pumping station projects.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate in Applied Science or a comparable qualification if no Civil Engineering degree.At least 6 years of civil inspection experience with stormwater and sewer system construction inspection.IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification preferred.Ability to read and understand construction and engineering plans.Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder interaction.Valid Driver's License required.Work Environment
This role is part of the Construction Administration team, with 95% of time spent onsite. You will use a company vehicle (White Jeep) for travel, primarily in the greater Chicagoland area. Typically, you will work on one project at a time, occasionally handling more than one, depending on project size. The initial assignment is a two-year project in Addison, requiring onsite presence throughout the day. Project types include local and municipal roads, as well as water/wastewater treatment facilities. There are opportunities for advancement, with potential to grow into a senior inspector role and obtain necessary certifications. The work environment supports learning different aspects of construction and design.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $53.00/hr.
