Airswift is working with one of our major clients in the Oil & Gas industry to find a Contract Cost Control Analyst to join their team in Lloydminster, SK. This is a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension.
Position Overview:
The Contract Cost Control Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity of capital projects by maintaining a comprehensive cost database and tracking performance against budgeted, committed, and incurred costs. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and communication skills to liaise across multiple departments and external stakeholders. The Analyst will help shape and implement standardized project execution processes in alignment with the Project Delivery Model (PDM) and the Company's Operational Integrity Management System.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or project management preferred. A CPA, P.Eng, or relevant designation is an asset. A Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Business Commerce (or equivalent) with a focus in accounting would be considered an asset. Experience: Minimum 5 years in project cost control, ideally within the energy sector. Strong proficiency in SAP, MS Office (especially Excel & Power BI), and cost forecasting tools. In-depth understanding of cost control in capital projects, including budgeting, forecasting, commitment tracking, and invoicing. Proven ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with both internal teams and external contractors. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking capabilities. Demonstrated initiative in driving process improvements and aligning cost control with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate cross-functional cost review meetings with project teams and stakeholders. Develop and maintain cost control structures (Cost Breakdown Structure, control plans, metrics, etc.). Prepare and manage Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requests and approvals. Create and present detailed cost reports, forecasts, and monthly financial updates. Track budget performance including incurred costs, commitments, accruals, and variances. Support the integration of cost control processes across departments to ensure transparency and consistency. Collaborate with internal teams and third-party contractors to support the entire project lifecycle. Assist with annual budget planning, long-range planning (LRP), and financial reporting requirements. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the cost control function.
