Job Description
In this role, the Controls Engineer will be primarily responsible for maintaining and improving automotive manufacturing equipment.
The majority of the job will involve diagnosing intermittent problems, assisting electricians to get back online, and conducting traceability work.
An example of a traceability project would be tracking down a barcode, learning the history of the part, and finding a solution.Typical Day:
Specifying hardware, updating AutoCAD electrical drawings, and collaborating with the maintenance teamWill be assigned small project work, such as adding a barcode scanner to an existing line or integrating a blower into a robotic cell.ResponsibilitiesDesign and recommend control system architecture, products, components, and applications used in manufacturing processes.Identify and resolve system integration and interface issues.Work with Fanuc and Siemens CNC machines; troubleshoot and program Fanuc robots.Utilize Hirschmann managed switches and Ethernet/IP topology.Evaluate new and emerging manufacturing and control technologies, adapting them into specifications as appropriate.Design, develop, select components, evaluate, and install machine controls hardware.Confirm control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures.Prepare and/or review electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control drawings.Collaborate with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.Keep equipment operating by performing periodic audits, troubleshooting breakdowns, requesting supplies, defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans, calling for repairs, and implementing process improvements.Must Have Qualifications Experience programming, editing, and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCsRobotics experience (preferably Fanuc)Willingness to work 5 months on 1st shift, one month on 3rd shift, M-F 9-hour days, and every other weekend\"Nice to have\" Skills & QualificationsElectrical Engineering DegreeExperience with CNC machineryWork EnvironmentThe environment is fast-paced as the company is an automotive made-to-order supplier. The facility is large, clean, and well-maintained.
Schedule:
Commitment to M-F 9-hour days, with every other weekend requiredWorking 5 months on 1st shift and one month on 3rd shift. Holidays and weekends may be required if needed for production.The company provides training on robotics and partners with local community colleges to help employees gain additional skills.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
