Director, Category Leadership, HQ Category Strategy

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, you will be responsible for leading a HQ based team that builds category strategies to optimize MAPS at all retailers.

Support field based Conagra teams in penetrating key customer decision makers to present category development plans. Collaborates with headquarter Category Strategy, Insights, Analytics and Business Development organizations in the development of category plans for assigned customers. Responsible for new item presentation, category business reviews, and all aspects of shelving products in a category friendly way. Responsible for identifying opportunities to improve competitive advantage and enhancing stature with the customer.

Position Responsibilities

Share ownership of customer interface at the category level with Sales, with focus on improving customer and company sales/profits.Work with Sales, Marketing, Shopper Marketing, Insights, Business Development, Brand, and other Category Leadership resources to execute category initiatives.Effectively customize and simplify corporate materials for assigned customers.Assist the sales team with category long range planning with customersLead shopper and brand based and Category Leadership initiatives with the customersDevelop tools to diagnose new category opportunitiesDeliver consumer/category input within customer strategic planning process to help refine plan elements based on consumer and category knowledge.Improve field sales capability to leverage analytics & insights.Partner with sales team to construct and deliver clear, concise, insights driven customer presentationsMonitor industry trends and competitive activity to identify opportunities to improve capabilities/advantage in the market.Improve shelf position for our brands while maintaining a shopper/category first approach.Be expert on the business – customer, department, key categories, brands and SKUsBe the subject matter expert on assigned customer team for analytical tools, space management software and data (Understand and master customer loyalty card data, 84.51, Circana, Nielsen, Assortment Tools, Kantar, and other industry and retailer related data sets.)

Position Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required7+ years of category leadership or category strategy related experience requiredData integration & interpretation experience – tell the storyAnalytical and critical thinking skills – analytical curiosityExperience leading cross functional team membersBe a project manager – establish objectives, process, roles, timeline and desired outcomeSynthesize a holistic sales story from multiple sources of data (syndicated, loyalty, consumer and industry trends).Experience working directly with customers in growing category sales.MS Office Suite, Nielsen/Circana, customer scanner and loyalty card data, space management tools, graphics, spreadsheets, and databases.Knowledgeable about syndicated scan and panel data including geo-demographic and behavioral dataWorking knowledge and application of data analytics and consumer insights.Be able to "mine" the data to uncover "root" causes of trends and deliver concise analysisWorking knowledge of retail merchandising and in store execution tactics.Develop and present comprehensive, concise and objective category reviews incorporating shopper, consumer, retailer, syndicated and loyalty dataDemonstrated ability to work in a matrixed environment and collaborate with various cross functional areas.

Compensation: 

Pay Range:$130,000-$193,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
