THE JOB The Director of Accounting oversees the accounting department, ensuring compliance with Brazilian accounting standards, US GAAP, and International Accounting Standards (IAS). This role involves collaborating with external auditors, supporting US-based accounting teams in Los Angeles, and providing accurate and timely historical schedules. The Director of Accounting will act as a key point of contact for accounting queries, ensuring consistency and transparency in financial reporting. WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO Accounting Oversight and Compliance: + Supervise the accounting department to ensure accurate financial records in accordance with Brazilian accounting standards, US GAAP, and IAS. + Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures that meet local and international compliance requirements. Collaboration with US Accounting Teams: + Work closely with accounting teams in Los Angeles to provide historical schedules, reconciliations, and other requested financial data. + Answer inquiries from US teams, ensuring clear communication and prompt resolution of issues. Audit Coordination: + Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, coordinating the provision of required documentation and addressing audit findings. + Oversee the preparation and review of audit schedules to ensure timely and accurate submissions. Financial Reporting and Analysis: + Ensure the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with multiple accounting frameworks. + Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. + Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. + Create and review reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy. Team Leadership and Development: + Lead and mentor the accounting team, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth. + Set departmental goals and monitor performance to ensure alignment with company objectives. Additional Responsibilities: + Participate in cross-functional projects or initiatives as needed to support company priorities. + Handle other duties as assigned by leadership to address evolving business needs. WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus. + CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred. + Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. + Extensive experience with Brazilian accounting standards, US GAAP, and IAS. + Proven track record of managing external audits and collaborating with international accounting teams.
