Director of Anesthesia Touro Infirmary

The Director of Anesthesiology CHAC is responsible for directing and planning the objectives of the anesthesiology department to promote the delivery of high-quality anesthesia care. Develops departmental standards, procedures, and policies. Contributes to strategic planning, direction, budgeting, and goal setting for the department.

GENERAL DUTIES

Develops, implements, and maintains anesthesia procedures and practices. Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure the highest standards of quality and service are maintained.Implements departmental policies and procedures as directed by the senior leadership.Ensures all Anesthesiology staff complies with the department’s quality improvement and patient safety program. Monitors and ensures staff's adherence to safety and infection control policies including decontamination procedures, waste disposal, Joint Commission, Department of Health, and OSHA.Oversees/coordinates anesthesiologist scheduling for LCMC in collaboration with senior staff. Prioritizes schedules and assigns work to optimize anesthesia operational service.Directs all anesthesia and sedation services for patients throughout the hospital.Prepares appropriate departmental statistics and provides reports to the senior leadership/management.Provides oversight of program budget, review of performance measures and use of staff resources. Prepares budgets and ensures cost-containment throughout all operations. Develops a knowledge base regarding the operating budget and capital equipment needs.Builds and maintains positive working relationships between the surgical, nursing, anesthesiology, and administrative staff members. Serves as a collaborative member of the Department of Anesthesiology’s leadership team and will serve as a resource to the anesthesiology attendings, CRNAs, technicians, and administrators on various issues.Ensures an appropriate balance is maintained for Anesthesia residents' training between education and service.


EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Required: 3 years of experience in a relevant field. (CHAC)


EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Doctoral Degree in Medicine or Osteopathy. (CHAC)
