We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Contracts to join our Contracts team in Poway, CA.
This position is responsible for directing the preparation, negotiation, acceptance, and management of assigned Government and Commercial contracts including significant and/or major contracts. Directs all phases of the contract administration process from inception through completion including preparing, reviewing, and approving all contractual documents to ensure protection of the company's contractual posture, satisfaction of contract specifications and requirements, identification of risk factors, and adherence to company policy, as well as appropriate laws and regulations. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate management and/or professional staff. May be responsible for decisions that have serious impact on overall success of the corporation.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Direct the administration of assigned contracts including negotiating, preparing, reviewing, approving, and terminating contractual documents to ensure protection of company's contractual posture.
+ Direct proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements and customer specifications.
+ Identify high level legal or contractual issues, lead the development of solutions and provide guidance to management on resolving highly complex issues while ensuring the contract administration process supports the objectives of the program areas.
+ Ensure the company's proprietary interests are protected and that company policy is followed for processes such as, but not limited to, the review chain for reports, papers and articles.
+ Direct the review of agreements and evaluate documentation and authorization forms to identify problematic provisions and determine if the minimum requirements are met. Will review agreements for consistency with government regulations, economic conditions, and company policies.
+ Advise management of contractual rights, issues, and obligations and provide interpretation of terms and conditions.
+ Coordinate review of solicitations and assist in drafting proposals to ensure customer objectives are satisfied and company interests are protected.
+ Act as primary contact for contracts activities and issues. Represents the company with senior level customers, potential customers and government representatives.
+ Consult with management in the development of new business or expansion of existing business opportunities.
+ Remain current on Commercial/Government regulations and practices affecting contracts and related agreements.
+ Direct the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required management and professional talent.
+ Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

**Job Qualifications:**
+ Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Business, Business law, or a related field and fifteen or more years of progressively complex experience in Contracts with at least nine of those years managing contracts processes and personnel. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
+ Demonstrates detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of Government/Commercial contract administration principles, concepts, and practices as well as comprehensive contract management and leadership skills.
+ Must have a thorough understanding of applicable laws and regulations including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and FAR supplements.
+ Must possess the ability to resolve unusually complex management and technical problems while serving as spokesperson on assigned projects and/or programs.
+ Strong communication, leadership, presentation, interpersonal skills, and a high level of emotional intelligence are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and Government representatives.
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance
+ Active Secret clearance is desired
