EH&S Technician

These markets include aerospace and defense, factory automation, air and water quality environmental monitoring, electronics design and development, oceanographic research, deepwater oil and gas exploration and production, medical imaging and pharmaceutical research.​ We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins. **Job Description** **Position Summary:** Provides Environmental, Health & Safety support for Teledyne FLIR’s OEM facility. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned. + Distributes hazardous materials and collects/prepares hazardous wastes for disposal + Performs routine inspection of facilities, operations and equipment for environment, health and safety concerns including, but not limited to hazardous waste storage areas, health and safety equipment, etc. + Maintains accurate mass balance for material/waste + Oversees hazardous material/waste storage areas including providing direction for contract hazardous material packaging, transportation, and disposal company + Uses clean up equipment to provide decontamination services for labs and equipment as needed + Collects samples of hazardous waste, building materials, etc. + Assist in Emergency Evacuation Planning + Responds to first aid requests and provides simple treatment + Performs routine inspection of facilities, operations and equipment for environment, health and safety concerns including, but not limited to SPCC, hazardous waste storage areas and tanks, etc. + Assist EH&S Manager in the assembly and implementation of Corporate EH&S policies and procedures (ie: (Vehicle Safety Program, Respirator Program, etc.) + Assist EHS Department in various new projects (EHS Velocity SDS Online Program, ISO 14001, etc.) + Schedule and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual testing of fire protection services (kitchen exhaust hood, CO2 systems, exit lights, eye wash machines and bottles, generator, toxic gas system) **Qualifications & Competencies** To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies: + Capability to safely accumulate acids and solvents in drums for disposal + Good understanding of environmental regulations and of OSHA safety standards + Ability to use survey instruments for flammables, toxics and particulates + Desire to be a hands-on, “one-person” service provider + Ability to act as a core EH&S service to support and value customer satisfaction + Basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel + Basic research proficiency using the internet + Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices **Education and/or Experience** + High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) with five (5) to seven (7) years of experience or associate degree with up to two (2) years of experience + Experience in the handling of hazardous materials and waste + Experience with cleanroom and semiconductor operations preferred + Maintains current required training certifications such as Hazwoper, hazardous waste, etc. **Other Qualifications:** + Must be qualified to drive forklift, golf cart and company vehicles + U.S. Citizenship + U.S. Person for access to ITAR-Controlled Technical Data **Trainings Requirements** + Ability to complete Hazardous Waste of California (22CCR) rules/regulations certification + Ability to complete Hazardous Materials Shipping (49CFR) rules/regulations certificate + All new hires will receive positional job skills training, as required for their specific function, according to Quality Assurance Procedure-0286, Competence, Awareness & Training in coordination with the employee’s management + All employees will complete compliance training as assigned + As required to support work assignments, employees will receive continuing relevant positional training as documented in the annual performance review system ITAR regulations dictate that information and material pertaining to defense and military related technologies may only be shared with US Persons unless authorization from the Department of State is received or a special exemption is used. Ability to travel for training. **Salary Range:** $42,800.00-$57,100.000 **Pay Transparency** The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
