POSITION SUMMARY
The apprentice will participate in Canfor’s structured 3-year apprenticeship program, which includes both hands-on training and classroom education. This program is a great fit for those who have an aptitude for problem solving, naturally analytical, have a curiosity of how machinery and equipment works, and are safety minded.
Apprentices receive mentorship from experienced electrician which will be provided throughout the program.
The Electrical Apprentice will assist experienced electricians in the installation, maintenance troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment within the sawmill. This apprenticeship is designed to provide hands-on training and theoretical knowledge, leading to certification as a qualified electrician for Canfor Southern Pine. The apprentice will learn to work with a variety of electrical systems, including conveyors, motors, pumps, and hydraulics, pneumatics PLC controls, and automated equipment that our facilities contain, while adhering to all safety protocols and standards.

Training and Development:
The apprentice will participate in a structure apprenticeship program, which includes both hands-on training and classroom education. Mentorship from experienced electricians will be provided throughout the program. Progress will be regularly reviewed to ensure successful completion of the apprenticeship.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Enrollment in or completion of a pre-apprenticeship program is considered an asset. Some labor or trades experience is an assetSkills and Abilities: Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools. Comfortable with basic math calculations Ability to read and follow technical instructions and blueprints. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and trouble-shooting skills. Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds). Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities. Safety/Cognitive/Mechanical/Electrical Aptitude Pre-Assessment Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety protocols, with a focus on maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work well in a team, follow instructions from supervisors, and communicate effectively with colleagues. Responsible, hardworking, self-motivated, hunger for challenge, and eager to learn.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Be willing to work any shift, including nights, rotating, variable, weekend/holidays Work is primarily performed in a sawmill, where noise levels are high, and exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment is constant. Physical demands include frequent bending, lifting, standing, and working in confined spaces. Safety is a top priority, and the apprentice will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
