Electrical Engineer - Water and Wastewater

Role description:

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in the assessment and design of water and wastewater utilities projects including pumping stations, reservoirs and treatment facilities.  As part of our growing Canadian Water Business, you will work closely with other discipline lead engineers to complete projects and will also play an important role in managing design teams, project management and business development. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and overseeing complex projects ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, standards and design guidelines. 

Working with our Water Team, you’ll work on the design of new facilities as well as upgrades to existing facilities.  You’ll also work on condition assessments and develop recommendations for improvements. This role sites without our global business area Resilience.   

Role accountabilities:

Oversee and prepare detailed design drawings, specifications and cost estimates for electrical systems including low and medium voltage power distribution and motor control centres, backup hardwired control systems, local equipment control panels, standby power systems including diesel generators, energy monitoring systems including CTs and power monitors, substations, grounding systems, building/utility power interconnections and building services Prepare electrical condition assessments including the development of technical memoranda/ reports and capital cost estimates Provide key input into the development of Process Control Narratives, P&ID drawings, operations and maintenance manuals and training materials Participate in the preparation of proposals and business development Prepare electrical design calculations during preliminary and detailed design Provide support during construction including responding to RFIs, review shop drawings, conduct site inspections and participate in system testing Coordinate with other design disciplines with our multi-disciplined project teams

Qualifications and Experience

Hold an engineering license (P.Eng.) in good standing Possess 5 to 10 years of experience in the design of electrical systems for water and wastewater utilities Bachelor of Electrical Engineering

The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of CAD systems including AutoCAD and MicroStation, and the REVIT modeling system. Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code, Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code and applicable NFPA standards are required, along with strong written and verbal communications skills.

The salary range for this position is $89,000-134,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
