Manufacturing Engineer

 

 

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for maintaining CNC Programs, Tooling and Work instructions for their area. Support and lead investigation in area for improvements and corrective actions. Maintain and develop PFMEA’s in their area, supports operations on equipment needs including process validation, continuous improvement activities and optimization.

 

 

Responsibility

Program CNC Machines. Provide technical support for the production floor. Set up CNC fixturing  Prepare tooling cost estimates for processes by conducting tool usage studies.  Set CNC tooling and Geometry. Maintain CNC tooling inventory. Create and maintain Work Instructions. Create and maintain PFMEA. Supports Automation troubleshooting. Support Assembly lines and manufacturing process. Generate monthly reports.  Work with manufacturers on tooling improvements and problem resolution.  Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service. Maintains product and process data by writing computer programs, entering data. Adhere to IATF/TS16949 and applicable customer standards. Perform miscellaneous activities as requested by management. 

 

Academic/Educational Requirements

A university degree or diploma engineering or equivalent. Associate degree with 5+ years of experience. Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of Professional Engineers (P.Eng.) would be an asset.

 

 

Required Skills/Experience

Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, techniques, and methodologies.  Read and interpret part prints for rough castings and finished machined parts.   Proficiency in CNC programming.   Strong knowledge of Pneumatics & Hydraulics. Experience in Automation. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.   Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.  Effective communication and interpersonal skills.   Experience with risk analysis and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA). Review scale drawings to ensure the proposed designs satisfy the clients' requirements and comply with manufacturing capabilities. Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques. Assembly manufacturing experience a plus. Heat treatment knowledge and experience a plus. Collect data and develop statistics to describe equipment and system functionality. Estimate durations of development, fabrication, construction, and repair tasks. Coordinate and integrate work within teams of engineers and technicians to work on common projects. Interact with maintenance technicians for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and supporting plant maintenance schedules. Proficient with Microsoft Office and CAD applications. Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing, and machining i.e. Microsoft Office, including Project, AutoCAD, SolidWorks. Other duties as assigned.
