Job Description
We are seeking hard-working and career-driven individuals to join our survey crews. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist the Crew Chief in completing the crew's assigned field survey tasks efficiently and accurately.
ResponsibilitiesTransmit survey data to the proper files in the computer network and acquire data for field use.Clear lines, establish points, tape, chain, and level for field survey projects as directed by the Crew Chief.Maintain the crew's assigned vehicle, ensuring it is clean, properly stocked with necessary equipment and supplies, and report any mechanical or safety issues to the Crew Chief.Load, transport, clean, and store field surveying equipment used by the crew.Communicate and coordinate effectively with other crew members to facilitate timely and accurate completion of assigned projects.Observe all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on active construction sites.Identify various types of trees encountered during field survey work accurately.Assist in the training of entry-level rodmen as requested.Cut and clear brush and trees from the survey line.Perform physical activities such as standing, walking, using hands, tools, controls, reaching with arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and lifting and moving up to 50-75 pounds.Support SUE work by performing heavy labor, including using a jackhammer, digging, setting up sites, operating vacuum trucks, and site clean-up.Essential SkillsExperience in construction, labor, landscaping, and manual labor.Ability to learn surveying techniques.Experience working outdoors in Florida elements.Valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR check.Willingness to perform heavy labor and work in extreme heat and weather conditions.Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school education or GED.Previous utility locating or survey experience is a plus.Travel required, potentially extensive up to 5 days during the week.Overtime may be required, and is compensated at 1.5x.Work Environment
The role involves working in 2-3 man crews outdoors in extreme Florida elements. The typical workday begins at 6 AM with travel to the site, working until around 4-5 PM, and includes overtime, which is compensated at 1.5x. The position requires out-of-town work with potential overnight stays from Monday to Thursday, returning on Friday. Lodging and per diem are provided for travel, which may extend as far as Pensacola. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
