Job Description
The Environment Specialist will manage environment permits and compliance activities for a new start-up manufacturing plant. This includes handling air permits, pretreatment, NPDES, SID, EPCRA, and reviewing environmental permit applications. The role involves making detailed plans and proceeding with tasks related to environmental permits, waste management, and supervising suppliers in relation to environmental compliance.
ResponsibilitiesReview the environmental permit applications.Make detailed plans and proceed with tasks related to environmental permits.Conduct waste management reviews and supervise suppliers regarding environmental compliance.Conduct permitting review applicability for maintenance projects.Oversee field examinations and report hazardous locations and materials.Conduct environment inspections and audits.Investigate environmental incidents and verify the implementation of corrective actions.Maintain environmental testing equipment and sample data from various sources.Manage environment strategy budgets.Perform statistical analysis, prepare reports, maintain compliance records, and file required documents with various regulatory agencies within stated deadlines.Supervise the work of outside contractors involved in removing or testing hazardous materials.Develop environment management systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations (ISO14001).Interact with plant personnel and company management to communicate environmental requirements, identify compliance issues, and act as a technical resource.Act as the interface between management and regulatory agencies (local, state, and federal) in resolving major environmental issues.Provide training to plant personnel on key environmental issues, requirements, and compliance.Prepare and manage contracts with suppliers and consultants for projects and routine activities.Develop and recommend solutions to eliminate pollution and environmental hazards.Perform research and report findings on current environmental conditions.Update and deliver employee training programs related to hazardous materials and waste.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related field.5+ years of job-related experience.Experience in working on environmental permits according to legal regulations.Experience in establishing and operating environment procedures based on ISO14001.Proficiency in MS Office products.Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, and human relations skills.Strong organizational and systems implementation skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Leadership and coaching skills; investigation skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in EHS management for new plant startup projects.Job-related experience in the automotive industry.Experience with establishing or using environment IT systems.Work Environment
The work environment is centered around a new and innovative EV mass-production plant equipped with cutting-edge production technology. The role may require domestic and international travel. The specialist will be part of a team focused on strategic thinking, planning, organizing, and problem-solving, with a willingness for transformational changes and flexibility.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
