We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Environmental Field Technician to support environmental service. As an Environmental Field Technician, you will perform advanced field and laboratory testing, conduct on-site inspections, and ensure construction, infrastructure, and environmental projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will be supporting the Environmental Project Managers by assisting in asbestos bulk, asbestos air, mold tape lifts and mold air samples and data, preparing environmental reports and sample analyses. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced field environment.

In addition to independent fieldwork, this position offers opportunities to potentially mentor junior technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team performance and operational efficiency.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform environmental field testing including asbestos inspections, air monitoring, Phase I & Phase II environmental site assessments, underground storage tank removals and closures, soil and groundwater testing, erosion and sediment control inspecting, lead, radon and mold testing and investigations, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
+ Ensure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures.
+ Collect, label, and transport samples to laboratories for analysis, following proper procedures to maintain sample integrity.
+ Complete detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to project managers.
+ Communicate effectively with other technicians, field supervisors, contractors, and project managers, providing real-time updates on job status, site conditions, and any issues encountered.
+ May be asked to mentor and support junior field technicians, providing guidance on field procedures, testing methods, and safety best practices.
+ Follow all OSHA, company, and client safety protocols, ensuring strict adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, hazard awareness, and field safety guidelines.
+ Adapt to changing project requirements and schedules, including early morning, weekend, or overnight work as needed.
+ Operate and maintain assigned company vehicle, including scheduling routine maintenance and ensuring proper upkeep.
+ Travel up to 50% to job sites within the Mid-Atlantic region, which may require overnight stays based on project needs.
+ Flexibility to work variable schedules, including early mornings, weekends, overtime, and potential overnight travel based on project demands.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned to support company initiatives and project success.
**Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering or related field of study is preferred.
+ 1-3+ years of field-based experience in environmental testing is preferred including Phase I/Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Wetlands Delineation Assessments, Brownfields/VCC Assessments, Property Condition Assessments.
+ Industry experience and/or certifications in Asbestos, Mold, Lead Based Paint, Radon and/or SWPPP inspections preferred.
+ Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to safely operate company vehicles.
+ Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and company safety policies.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Field Data Collection (FDC) software or similar industry tools.
+ Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
+ Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, technical documents, and reports related to environmental safety, and project requirements.
+ Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
+ Attention to detail to ensure accurate sample collection, testing procedures, and documentation.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to producing high-quality results.
+ Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying equipment, standing for extended periods, and working in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions.
+ Flexibility to work variable schedules, including early mornings, weekends, overtime, and potential overnight travel based on project demands.
**Physical Demands & Work Environment**
This position primarily works in an outdoor work environment, regularly exposed to varying field conditions, including:
+ Sites that may not be accessible by vehicle, requiring travel on foot through wetlands, swamps, grasslands, fields, and other uneven or rugged terrain with natural and man-made obstacles such as sand, brush, and debris.
+ Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments.
+ Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions.
The physical requirements for this position may include and are not limited to:
+ Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion.
+ Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.
+ Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.
+ Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections.
+ Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.
Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit).
