Job Title: Federal Estimator
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Federal Estimator to support cost estimation and proposal development for federal contracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal acquisition regulations (FAR), government procurement processes, and cost estimation methodologies. This role involves preparing accurate and compliant cost estimates for bids, proposals, and ongoing federal projects.
Responsibilities
+ Develop detailed cost estimates for federal projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
+ Analyze RFPs, RFQs, and other solicitation documents to determine scope and requirements.
+ Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather data and validate estimates.
+ Prepare pricing models and cost narratives in compliance with FAR and agency-specific guidelines.
+ Support proposal development teams with pricing strategies and cost justifications.
+ Conduct risk assessments and sensitivity analyses to inform pricing decisions.
+ Maintain historical cost data and develop cost databases for future use.
+ Participate in bid reviews and negotiations with government clients.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Business, or related field.
+ 3+ years of experience in cost estimating, preferably in a federal contracting environment.
+ Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and other federal acquisition regulations.
+ Proficiency in cost estimating software (e.g., RSMeans, CostWorks, ProPricer, Excel).
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (if required).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.10 - $67.31/hr.
