**Job Description:**
The job is responsible for the administration and business development of the Merrill Family Office Services’ (MFOS) ultra-high net worth clients. Key responsibilities include managing complex and multi-tiered levels of ownership and high levels of coordination between family entities. Job expectations include being accountable for the client experience and overseeing the holistic delivery of an integrated and comprehensive package of MFOS products and services in partnership with the Merrill Financial Advisor team.
The Merrill Lynch Family Office is currently seeking a highly motivated **Tax Manage** **r** . This important role in our growing tax practice includes managing client relationships and deliverable deadlines. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to utilize technical tax, analytical, management and client service skills by:
+ Preparing or reviewing complex tax returns including federal and multi-state returns for high net worth individuals, gift, S corporations, partnerships, trusts and foundations
+ Preparing or reviewing income tax projections to determine quarterly tax payments and to address certain life events (e.g., selling a business, divorce, etc.).
+ Closely monitoring recent tax legislation and how the law affects each client
+ Owning client relationships and work
+ Researching tax issues and providing guidance to clients, including responding effectively and timely to client inquiries
+ Foster a team environment; demonstrate support of management and decisions and build a positive culture
+ Participate in practice development activities that lead to the generation of new business and the opportunities for cross-selling
**Responsibilities:** • Provides quality client service and effective operations support by resolving client issues and analyzing data to address risk issues and trends
• Escalates issues and provides resolution on complex inquiries, requests, and problems related to client concerns
• Documents client interactions and provides team members with time sensitive updates
• Attends client review meetings to capture notes, document in Salesforce, and tracks all actions/activities to ensure the highest level of client service is provided
• Provides advice and assists with training for team members
Successful candidates will have an entrepreneurial spirit and strong analytical skills, in addition to:
+ Bachelor’s degree preferred; CPA or master’s degree in accounting/taxation is preferred
+ 5 to 10 years technical tax experience in public accounting or related field
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing, both internally and externally
+ Strong working knowledge of tax return preparation, review and processing
+ Willingness to roll up sleeves and do what is needed to meet client deadlines and expectations
+ Ability to work in a multi-task environment, managing multiple priorities while delivering results
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and tax & planning software (Thomson Reuters GoSystem, SurePrep, BNA Income Tax Planner)
