**Overview**
**Shimmick** is seeking a highly talented **Field Engineer** to be based out of **Soda Springs, Idaho** .This is a **CASUAL** position from May to Spetember, working approximately 10-20 hours per week depending on the project needs.

Shimmick takes on challenging projects and performs high-quality work ranging from expanding/constructing water and wastewater treatment plants to construction of the new Gerald Desmond Bridge.

**National Division**
Shimmick’s National Division operates throughout the central and eastern U.S. Comprised of legacy companies, such as Morrison Knudsen, Washington Group, and others, this division has decades-long history of delivering successful transportation, transit, mining infrastructure, and water resources projects. In addition to state DOTs and transit agencies, the National Division has delivered more than $5 billion in work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, primarily in the water resources (dams, reservoirs, locks, levees) sector. The National Division is delivering Oklahoma Turnpike Authority’s first build-finance project, the $260 million Gilcrease Expressway project in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
**Responsibilities**
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Under direct supervision, performs routine duties requiring knowledge of basic engineering principles.
+ Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work.
+ Performs specific and limited portions of broader assignments.
+ Spends large percentage of time performing estimating take-offs and performing walk-downs for quantity tracking purposes, reporting of installed quantities, performing field inspections to verify adherence to design.
+ Conducting daily or periodic surveys to support drilling, blasting, and excavation.
+ Establishing and maintaining control points and benchmarks.
+ Verifying locations of infrastructure like roads, slopes, stockpiles, and ore bodies.
+ Updating topographic maps and 3D models of the site.
+ Ensuring data accuracy for production, compliance, and regulatory purposes.
**Qualifications**
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in surveying, preferably within a mining or heavy construction environment.
+ Familiarity with open-pit or underground mining operations is highly desirable.
+ Field experience with GPS, total stations, drones, and laser scanning equipment.
+ Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
+ Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
+ Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite
+ Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail
+ Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders
+ Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks
+ Highly organized with excellent time management skills
+ Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
