Fixed Asset/Inventory/Supply Chain Accountant - CONTRACT
Description We are looking for an experienced Fixed Asset/Inventory/Supply Chain Accountant to join our team in Dallas, Texas. This 3-6 month contract position will be 100% onsite and offers an opportunity to work on dynamic projects within the finance and accounting domain. The process involves significant coordination across multiple stakeholders, intricate inventory management, and financial accounting to ensure that each campus is ready to support client requirements efficiently. + Approximately 40% of data center construction costs are associated with OFCI (Owner Furnished & Contractor Installed) inventory. + The company procures consolidated inventory centrally, allowing components to be flexible and transferable across multiple campuses. However, some items may be client-specific or version-specific. + Major supply partners work on milestone-based payment terms, such as: + 20% payment upon issuing a Purchase Order (PO). + 50% payment upon shipping materials. + Remaining payments withheld for commissioning. + Inventory Transitioning Process: + Supplies are delivered to dedicated warehouse partners (currently MEI, upgraded as of October). + Inventory is stored until a building location is ready to receive it. + MEI coordinates with General Contractors (GCs) to deliver inventory to the site, where it is installed and commissioned + Inventory costs are monitored, reconciled, and managed between: + Parent entity (initial inventory cost allocation). + Building subsidiaries (where inventory costs are transferred once installed and functional). + Prepaid accounts are used to temporarily track costs incurred before receiving equipment. These costs are later transitioned into stock accounts and building subsidiary accounts once received. + The lifecycle of inventory includes: + Receipt: Inventory is received at a warehouse. + Fulfillment: Inventory is moved to specific building sites. + Transfers: Items are moved within warehouse/storage facilities. + These transactions are processed through the company's accounting system (e.g., NetSuite), and the system is updated accordingly. + Additional associated costs (e.g., pre-project support, commissioning setup) are often outside the unit rate and must be manually reviewed and assigned to the correct subsidiary. + Managing purchase orders, change orders, and vendor bills for inventory components. + Handling receipts, fulfillments, and transfers of inventory. + Reconciling transactions in financial systems (e.g., NetSuite). + Monitoring costs incurred at various stages and ensuring these are moved into the correct accounts (e.g., parent entity to subsidiary accounts). + Reviewing and identifying costs outside standard unit rates and manually assigning them to the appropriate location and account. + Partnering with warehouse providers (e.g., MEI) to track inventory from delivery to installation. + Ensuring that payment milestones with supply partners are properly tracked and recorded Requirements • At least 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on project/cost accounting, data analysis, or inventory management. • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. • Proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with NetSuite is a plus. • Strong organizational and critical thinking abilities, with an eye for detail and accuracy. • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices. • Analytical mindset with the capacity to identify and resolve complex issues in large data sets.
