GBR Refining Inspector

The Galveston Bay Refinery is seeking candidates for the position of a Refining Inspector for its location in Texas City, Texas.

The position will be primarily responsible for development of equipment inspection plans for turnaround and on-stream inspections, analysis of inspection data, reporting plant-wide inspection program status and coordination of inspection work with turnaround planning group prior to, and during shutdowns. The position will also be responsible for the inspection of various types of fixed equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, structural steel, heaters, boilers, and piping. The inspector will document and report findings and develop recommendations.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Develop and execute inspection plans for fixed equipment based on service, design, condition, jurisdictional requirements, and inspection history.Review recommendations based on findings, options, and risk assessments with management, Operations, and Maintenance.Develop and review repair procedures, equipment modifications, and drawings.Document Inspection records and findings in IDMS (Inspection Data Management System)Participate in root cause analysis.

Education and Experience:

A High School diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor‘s degree in an engineering or science-related discipline from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)Qualified candidates will possess at least three years of experience in a refining or petrochemical inspection role.Additionally, the candidate must have a strong understanding of all applicable codes and must hold certifications in API 510 and API 570. API 653, CWI and NDE and certifications are preferred as well.The candidate must be able to prepare concise technical reports of findings from inspections in order to inform asset owners of the condition fixed equipment.Inspector candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office products. Experience with IDMS like GE APM (Meridium) is a plus.Experience with RBI and knowledge of refinery damage mechanisms is preferred.A valid driver's license is required.
