Job Summary

The Opportunity

The Health Information Management Manager is responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and technology systems to ensure the efficient and compliant management of health information by leading a team of professionals to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of patient data while supporting the organization's clinical and administrative functions.


-Oversee the implementation and maintenance of health information management systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and health information exchange (HIE) platforms.
-Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to ensure the functionality, security, and interoperability of health information systems.

-Develop and enforce policies and procedures for the creation, maintenance, and retention of patient health records and other health information in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
-Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy and security regulations governing the access, use, and disclosure of protected health information (PHI).

-Implement and monitor security measures to protect health information from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats.
-Supervise and provide guidance to health information management staff, including medical coders, health information technicians, and release of information specialists.

-Collaborate with clinical departments, medical staff, and administrative teams to ensure timely and accurate documentation and data exchange.


 

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required and Master's Degree in a Related Field of Study preferred; this role will accept experience in lieu of a degree Health Information Management Experience 5-7 years required and Management Experience 3-5 years required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of health information management systems, coding practices, and health information privacy and security regulations.Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and health information exchange (HIE) technologies.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve health information management challenges.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.Demonstrated commitment to maintaining patient privacy, confidentiality, and data integrity.
