Description:PERFORMS SUCH TYPICAL DUTIES AS:

Operates conventional and atmospheric controlled furnaces to perform any operation within their capacity of such items as ferrous and nonferrous metals, production and tooling parts and stock. Determines the heat-treating process, time, temperature, soaking time, cooling rate, quenching position and medium, atmosphere requirements and operational sequences and methods necessary to obtain specified result. Working from authorized documents, tooling, and holding fixtures, where it is required to exercise a complete knowledge of operations performed, tooling and production steel processes, testing processes, the properties and characteristics of materials worked with, and the functions and capacities of equipment worked with. Loads and positions parts in furnace where it is necessary to determine proper method of loading to minimize warpage and ensure proper distribution of heat. Makes adjustments to equipment and controls atmosphere ratios, vacuums, and pressures in support of the operations described herein. Performs operations such as hardening, tempering, normalizing, annealing, drawing and surface hardening and localized flame hardening such tools and dies, cutter and jigs, and/or machine parts where warpage and oxidation must be held to a minimum and on which all machine operations may have been completed or require only final or clean-up grind.

Sets time and heat controls, regulates furnace temperature as required.

Works out heat treating formula to obtain specified results on all steels and steel alloys, and records treatment method for future reference, working with authorized liaison personnel as required.

Submits sketches, or recommendations for holding devices as necessary for proper holding of parts during heat treat procedure. Improvises shop aids to facilitate work assignment.

Makes hardness test subsequent to processing using equipment such as Brinnel and Rockwell hardness testers, and detects flaws resulting from heat treat. Identifies the composition of unknown metals by spark or other tests.

Regulates heat treat solutions to proper degree of acidity or alkalinity.

Mixes and applies materials in support of tube joining operations. Resets tubes after performance of the operations described herein.

Conducts such tests as determination of atmosphere dewpoint condition and CO2 contamination, and makes corrections as required.

Recognizes improper functioning of equipment, takes corrective action or reports trouble to responsible personnel.

Cleans and stores equipment, maintains work area in neat, orderly manner.

Heat treats rivets to establish specifications.

Identifies and stores parts in proper refrigeration units; moves parts from unit to unit as required.

Operates age hardening ovens, working to establish specifications.

Maintains heat treating records as required.

Ability to obtain and maintain Company licenses, certifications, and training as required for assigned tasks.

Basic Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of two years of experience in heat treating or equivalent training.

Blueprint and technical data comprehension.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

The base range for this position in California is $25.30 - $43.02.
