We’re a leading utilities contractor with a no-BS reputation and a busy pipeline of underground fiber optic installations. Our Minnesota team is expanding, and we’re on the hunt for skilled equipment operators—folks who can handle a skid steer in their sleep, read a bore path like a map, and still crack a joke on a muddy Tuesday.

Job Description:

We are hiring a Heavy Equipment & Directional Drill Operator/Locator to join our local Minnesota crew. This role involves a mix of operating heavy machinery (backhoes, skid steers, mini-excavators) and running horizontal directional drills for fiber optic cable installation. You’ll be digging, reading locates, steering bore paths, and making sure the job gets done clean and safe—with plenty of overtime available, especially during summer.

Key Responsibilities:

•\tOperate heavy machinery: backhoe, skid steer, mini-excavator

•\tOperate horizontal directional drills and assist with locating bore paths

•\tRead and interpret utility locates, coordinate daylighting

•\tConfirm and walk bore paths with foreman and team

•\tMaintain equipment: grease, oil, minor repairs

•\tLevel earth to grade specs and finish to clean standards

•\tHand dig around utilities when needed (yes, the old-school way)

•\tLoad/unload equipment and support site prep and clean-up

•\tPractice safe driving and worksite habits at all times

Required Qualifications:

•\t1+ years of experience operating heavy equipment or drills

•\tFamiliarity with hand and power tools

•\tAbility to pass an MVR check and obtain a DOT medical card

•\tComfortable operating a company vehicle

•\tAble to lift up to 75 lbs

•\tMust be able to work year-round in all weather conditions


Preferred (but not required):

•\tClass A CDL (with Air Brake & Combination endorsements)

Schedule & Work Environment:

•\tMonday – Friday, 7:00/8:00 AM starts

•\t8–10 hour days with 5–15 hours of overtime per week

•\tSummer is busy, so bring your hustle

•\tMeet at the Eden Prairie shop (off 65/494) or go directly to job sites

•\tOccasional travel: Some short-term out-of-town work; you’ll be home Fridays

•\tPer Diem: $80/day when traveling

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
